Ochsner
Contena Ochsner AG is a merger of the two traditional Swiss companies Contena Handels AG and J. Ochsner AG, which have been active and well-known as leading providers of waste disposal technology in Switzerland for 40 and 170 years respectively. J. Ochsner AG has its origins in 1846 - in that year Hans Jakob Ochsner founded a wainwright's shop in Oberhallau - and has always set standards in waste disposal in the Swiss market through innovation. In 1897, for example, the first refuse collection plant was built, equipped for dust-free emptying of refuse bins of various sizes. In 1926 Jakob Ochsner Jr. took over management of the company and the OCHSNER system - round bins (the first standardised bins in Europe = Ochsner bucket patent) for emptying on side-loader vehicles - was introduced in many Swiss towns and cities. The first hydraulically driven compactor waste truck as a return loader and with a tiltable collection box was developed in 1936.
A new chapter in history will begin in 2014 with the successful merger of Contena Handels AG and J. Ochsner AG to form Contena Ochsner AG.
