It's always something special when players set a new milestone. Whether it's the Echo guild recently winning the world-first race for the new raid from World of Warcraft, or talented speedrunners setting a new world record.
New Elden Ring speedrunning world record
We've reported in the past about the dedicated speedrunning community around Elden Ring. About three weeks ago, for example, a player managed to reach the end of From Software's title in just two and a half hours. Just one day later, speedrunner LilAggy played through Elden Ring in under an hour. It didn't end there, however, and a few days ago streamer Hazebladeachieved a time of 24:37 minutes.
Within a month we received numerous world records, all of which were extremely impressive. Many players will probably take the same amount of time to defeat a single boss in From Software's Elden Ring, in which speedrunners play through the entire game. Now, streamer Distortion2 has set another milestone. Within a 15-hour Twitch stream, the streamer achieved a time of 18 minutes and 58 seconds, which is both a new world record and the first speedrun to break the 20-minute mark.
In a tweet about his extraordinary achievement, the streamer thanked all his viewers and celebrated his new world record. It remains to be noted that Distortion2 Elden Ring is playing on the outdated patch 1.02. Meanwhile, Elden Ring received some balancing changes, which makes many popular speedrun strategies no longer possible. However, Distortion2 still plays on patch 1.02 and uses numerous glitches to skip large parts of the game.
You can watch Distortion2's entire run on his Twitch channel. If you're interested in all the times of the speedrunning community, you can find them on Speedrun.com. By the way, we recently learned that From Software's latest title was originally supposed to have a bestiary.
