Dry skin? This is the cream make-up artists swear by
Professionals say the Lait-Crème Concentré is the key to successful make-up. And they’re right!
There are some beauty products out there that the majority of make-up artists absolutely swear by. Now, you and I may not be make-up artists, but it’s still worth taking a closer look at what the professionals recommend. After all, they deal with different skin types on a daily basis and are particularly good at assessing which products are user-friendly and bring out the best in you. One example of this is the Lait-Crème Concentré from the French brand Embryolisse.

An all-rounder at a reasonable price
The multifunctional moisturiser with shea butter and aloe vera looks inconspicuous but, according to many make-up artists, it’s an essential part of their make-up kit. It’s designed to hydrate the skin, create a perfect base for your make-up, act as a mask and can even serve as a make-up remover. It’s also supposed to soothe the skin and support the protective barrier. In other words, it’s perfect for models on sets who need several make-up looks. The product is said to work wonders for dry skin types in particular. And as if these weren’t enough arguments to give the all-rounder a chance, it also comes with an affordable price tag. If you couldn’t tell from the name already, the cream’s produced in France.
My thoughts
I’m also a fan of the cream and use it primarily as a base under my make-up. In terms of texture, it doesn’t really differ from other water-based creams. You can only feel how rich it is when you work it into your skin. You only need a small amount for your skin to feel super soft – in fact, almost silky. But not in a greasy way. Rather, it looks dewy, plump and fresh. And it’s nice and easy to apply make-up over it.

I have combination skin. This means that my T-zone is oily, while my cheeks tend to be dry, so I can judge the cream for both skin types. Do you have oily skin? Then you don’t need this product. Because after a few hours of wear, the shine could get out of hand. However, if you have dry to very dry skin, you’ll love this product.
Some more tips
Make-up artist Kevin Kodra recommends applying the cream like a mask and waiting until it becomes transparent to work it in. You can also use the product to remove make-up: apply generously and massage the face as if using a cleanser until the make-up comes off. Then wipe over your skin with a damp cloth. Mind you, this technique is recommended for a professional set and not for everyday use.

In the meantime, Embryolisse has released more versions of its bestseller. For example, lighter ones without fragrances for people who have oily, sensitive or blemish-prone skin. Or one with UV protection. You can also choose from different sizes. For starters, I recommend the small 30-millilitre tube I linked above.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
