Honor Magic3 series: CEO reveals details
In an interview with Reuters, Honor CEO George Zhao has revealed key features of the upcoming Honor Magic 3 series. Some of them are quite exciting indeed.
In Reuters's Global CEO Tech Talk, Honor boss George Zhao confirmed some network rumours: both the vanilla Magic 3 and Magic 3 Pro will feature the Snappdragon 888+ system-on-a-chip (SoC). This makes the Magic3 Honor's first real flagship since they parted ways with Huawei.
Just three days ago, a first commercial including the first picture of the new flagship was shown on Chinese state TV. It’s the cover picture of this article.
Zhao also touched on the subject of photography. The word «Magic» in the name is more than just an empty phrase, he said. The cameras are supposed to boast various optimisations. For example, features to capture the golden and pink phenomena in the sky as accurately as possible during the so-called «golden hour». This probably also explains the sunset-inspired teaser for the smartphone.
Golden hour? The golden hour takes place about 15 to 20 minutes before sunrise and sunset. It’s the time when the light conditions are best for photography.
In addition to the rose-gold hue on the horizon, the rest of the sky appears dark blue. This is where the names of the two colours the Magic3 series will offer come from: Blue Hour and Golden Hour.
Apart from the camera and processor details, there is no other confirmed information on the new series. The speculations remain. Tech blog GSMarena has revealed that the device is supposed to feature a curved-edge display with an Amoled panel and a diagonal of 6.76 inches. According to the rumours, the display resolution is 2772 × 1344 pixels and the refresh rate of the display is supposed to be 120 Hz and support HDR10+. On top of this, Gorilla Glass Victus is said to provide sufficient protection against scratches. The front camera is supposed to sit in a dual-punch hole.
On 12 August, we will find out what Honor will actually conjure up magically. That’s when the new flagship series by Honor will be officially presented.
