The Game Awards are the Oscars of the video game industry. Unlike the Hollywood version, however, the Game Awards do not just consist of dry award ceremonies. Every year, the audience is treated to countless game announcements and epic trailers presented on the big stage.

"Final Fantasy XVI": revenge is sweet

The game's producer Naoki Yoshida announced the trailer for the game himself on stage. The explosive video gives in-depth looks at the gameplay and reveals that the game's story will revolve around revenge. The images in the trailer are accompanied by an epic soundtrack that makes you want more. It all looks very promising.

"Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon": From Software returns to its roots

Before the "Souls" games and "Elden Ring", the Japanese studio From Software was known for the "Armored Core" games, among others. In these third-person shooters, you climb into huge mechs and fight your way through enemy robot hordes. The trailer for the sixth part doesn't give much away, but it looks stunningly good. The gloomy, post-apocalyptic landscapes and the intense background music create a wonderfully oppressive atmosphere. And best of all, you won't have to wait long for the release.

"Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty": Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves for the price of one

For the "Cyberpunk" DLC, the developer studio CD Projekt Red was able to hook another Hollywood superstar. Alongside Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba is playing in "Phantom Liberty". I am curious to see where the spy thriller-inspired story expansion will take us.

Releases in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The old console generation will not be served with the DLC.

"Death Stranding 2": Sam Bridges is back

In usual Kojima fashion, the mysterious trailer for "Death Stranding 2" raises more questions than it answers. Creator Hideo Kojima was also live on the Game Awards stage and revealed that the Corona pandemic had a big impact on the story of the second part. I'm curious.

"Horizon: Burning Shores": New DLC for the post-apocalyptic open-world game

The story expansion takes Aloy to Hollywood. The city of stars isn't what it used to be either. New, nasty robot dinos lurk everywhere and lava flows into the sea - hence the title "Burning Shores". For me, "Horizon: Forbidden West" is the best game of the year after "God of War: Ragnarok". Accordingly, I am looking forward to the DLC.

"Star Wars Jedi Survivor": a gritty sequel

Cal Kestis is back! The sequel to "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" looks much darker. I can't wait to wield the lightsaber again and can't wait to see where the lone Jedi Knight goes next. I don't have to wait much longer.

"Crash Team Rumble": multiplayer crash

. Hm. A multiplayer game in the Crash Bandicoot universe. So effectively a sequel to "Crash Bash", which came out on the PS1 in 2000. I would have preferred a new single player game. But at least the "Crash" franchise is still alive.

"Diablo IV": a stunning CGI trailer

There's no gameplay to be seen in this video. No matter. The CGI cutscene looks stunningly good and makes you want to play the game. A concrete release date has also been announced .

"Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2": New gameplay for epic hack'n'slash game

I have to admit: I've never played a "Warhammer" game before. This trailer looks pretty damn epic, though. Maybe I'll give it a try.

"Crime Boss: Rockay City": crime simulation with Chuck Norris

. The perfect game to shorten the waiting time for "GTA 6". The special thing about this open-world crime game: the all-star cast. Among others, Michael Madsen, Kim Basinger, Danny Trejo and Chuck Norris play along. Yes, read that right. Chuck Norris.

"Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden": New action RPG from the "Life is Strange" studio

In "Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden" you take on the role of a ghost hunter who is supposed to protect the world of the living from evil ghosts. Graphically, the game looks quite impressive compared to the previous games by the "Life is Strange" studio Dontnod.

Displays in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

"Transformers Reactivate": first-person Transformer action

. For a long time, fans had to wait for a new (and good) "Transformers" game. The CGI trailer for "Reactivate" already looks promising. The game is being developed by Splash Damage, which is responsible for "Gears 5", among other things.

"Remnant II": Co-op action in a fantasy setting with guns

In "Remnant II" you fight your way through dynamically generated dungeons and take on all kinds of monsters that could have come straight out of "Elden Ring" or other From Software games. However, you don't have to rely on typical fantasy weapons, but can also shoot your way through the disgusting creatures with numerous guns.

"The Lords of the Fallen": reboot of a mediocre game

And another game that reminds me of From Software titles. If you can't get enough of the dark atmosphere of Souls-like games, the trailer might be something for you. The game is a reboot of 2014's Lords of the Fallen, which got only moderately good reviews.

"Blue Protocol": Colourful online role-playing game with an anime look

"Blue Protocol" is being developed by Bandai Namco in collaboration with Amazon Games. That makes me sceptical. The trailer, on the other hand, looks beautiful. I'm happy to be surprised and I'm curious to see if the online role-playing game is any good.

"Meet Your Maker": a slightly different first-person shooter

"Meet Your Maker" is a post-apocalyptic first-person game where each level is built by other players. With a variety of blocks, traps and guards, you can create deadly mazes, or defeat other players' levels.

"Baldur's Gate 3": New Content and Release Date

The trailer shows the return of well-known "Baldur's Gate" characters and a lot of new content that was not yet available in the Early Access phase.

To be released in August 2023 for PC and Mac.

"Nightingale": New gameplay impressions of the survival game

The first-person survival game has a unique art style and promises a huge, freely explorable world full of absurd monsters. And the best thing about the trailer: You can fly around like Mary Poppins with an umbrella. Sign me up!

"Tekken 8": Familiar brawling fare in bombastic visuals

The new trailer for "Tekken 8" shows real gameplay for the first time. Graphically, the game looks bombastic. The lighting effects and the detailed character models are particularly impressive. It definitely makes you want more.

"Immortals of Aveum": First-person game with magic instead of ammunition

If the game looks even half as good as the trailer, we can expect visual fireworks. Instead of using weapons and ammunition, you fight your way through the world in the first-person perspective with magic. The game is being developed by former "Dead Space" and "Call of Duty" developers.

"Dune Awakening": first in-engine impressions of the "Dune" MMO

Thousands of male and female players can fight for survival on the desert planet Arrakis in this MMO. But there's not much new information in the trailer .

"Wayfinder": Colourful online role-playing game

"Wayfinder" is an online action RPG. Visually, the style reminds me of "World of Warcraft" and "League of Legends". No wonder, because the game is being developed by the studio Air Ship Syndicate, which is responsible for "Ruined King: A League of Legends Story", among others.

"Forspoken": New trailer and demo

Square Enix delivers new impressions of the upcoming fantasy action RPG. The demo for the game is available now on PS5.

"Earthblade": 2D platformer from the "Celeste" makers

"Celeste" fans will immediately feel at home. The trailer radiates a cosy atmosphere that stands in stark contrast to the challenging jump-'n'-run passages. But you'll have to wait a little longer until the release.

"Horizon: Call of the Mountain": On a robot hunt in VR

In this short trailer you can marvel at some of the nasty robot dinos you have to defeat in "Horizon: Call of the Mountain". I'm looking forward to playing the game and using the new Playstation VR2 headset .

"Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League":

After the disappointing "Gotham Knights", we can finally expect another good game from DC with the new "Suicide Squad". The gloomy Batman certainly looks promising. It is also the last game in which the late Kevin Conroy lends his voice to Batman.

"Destiny 2: Lightfall": New fodder for "Destiny" fans

The new "Destiny" expansion stands out visually quite a bit from the rest of the game. You can expect a gaudy neon look with new enemies in a new game world .

"Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon": a prequel to the Bayonetta saga

. In a complete surprise, Platinum Games has announced a prequel to "Bayonetta". Unlike the main series, you control Bayonetta from an isometric perspective. The whole thing looks like a beautifully drawn children's book.

Releases on 17.03. for Nintendo Switch.

"Judas": New immersive sim from the "Bioshock" makers

If you like immersive worlds like those of "Bioshock" and "Dishonored", "Judas" is the game for you. It is being developed by Ghost Story Games and "Bioshock" creator Ken Levine.

"Hades II": The first sequel from Supergiant Games

A sequel to the popular roguelike action game. Looks just like its predecessor. And that's a good thing.

"Street Fighter 6": New impressions of the fighting game

. With the new gameplay clips for the colourful beat 'em up comes a release date. The trailer also provides glimpses of new, absurd mini-games and introduces familiar faces alongside completely new characters.

"Replaced": post-apocalypse in 2.5D

A very big highlight for me. The 2.5D sidescroller promises a dark atmosphere, in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk setting. And that music... simply marvellous! I need more of this! IMMEDIATELY!

"After Us": Atmospheric adventure without words

In "After Us" you explore a mysterious world full of beautiful dangers. The story is entirely without text or dialogue. The calm atmosphere reminds me of meditative games like "Journey".

"Among Us: Hide N Seek": New game mode announced

In the new "Hide N Seek" game mode, you can murder your friends with even greater ease and brutality.

The update is available now.

"Viewfinder":

In this puzzle game you have to solve puzzles with printed photos. The perspective of the 2D pictures in the 3D environment plays an important role. Looks very promising.

"Post Trauma": Not for the faint-hearted

A dark adventure game from the makers of "Norco". Nothing more is currently known about the title .

"Hellboy Web of Wyrd": devilish brawler game

A stylish cel-shaded Hellboy brawler. The gameplay in the trailer still looks a bit stiff and boring.

"Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania": New DLC for the stylish 2D game
