When the vibrator, provided by the manufacturer for the test, arrives at my house, I am alone at home. And for several hours - even after work. Perfect timing for a solo ride. I take out a rectangular package from the box and read the promising words on it: "Journey to Ecstasy". Yes, that's exactly where I want to go! The packaging opens sideways in one smooth movement to reveal the magnificent specimen: Slim, elegant, lilac-coloured. In the middle, the vibrator has a curvature of an estimated 120 degrees, whereby the joint is movable and can be bent into narrower and wider angles. It indicates: fully charged - jackpot! 120 minutes of electric love. The packaging also contains a charging cable, instructions and a storage bag. The vibrator is very light and even though I once got upset about the colour choice of vibrators (because they are colourful like children's chewing gum), I find the lilac shade quite pretty. If you don't like the fairy princess look, the vibrator also comes in black or aubergine.

Features and operation

The vibrator in front of me is quite a surprise egg. Cute packaging, but I don't quite know what I'm holding in my hands here. At first glance, everything is relatively self-explanatory: the two buttons "Plus" and "Minus" regulate the intensity and the head, which is about two centimetres deep, emits pressure waves and is first placed on the outside of the clitoris. After that, a woman inserts the vibrator into her vagina, with the pressure wave head opening now facing upwards, and the stimulation of the G-spot is supposed to shoot you over the finish line. So far so understandable.

Then there are less intuitive features, but they are quickly explained: Smart Silence technology and the Afterglow function. The former means: vibration and pressure waves only start when the vibrator touches your skin and stop by themselves when you put it down. This function can be switched on and off by pressing the plus and minus buttons simultaneously. With the Afterglow function, you switch the vibrator to the lowest level after orgasm with a single press of the minus button, allowing the orgasm to fade away.

But then there's the Afterglow function.

But then there are functions for which I have to read the instructions. For example, vibration and pressure waves cannot be switched on and off separately, but they can be controlled separately. You control the intensity of the pressure waves via the plus and minus button, while the vibration is adjusted via a small head underneath. There is no plus or minus for this, the intensity increases with repeated pressing of the button. The pressure waves are available in twelve strengths, the vibration in three. In addition, according to the instructions, three different vibration patterns are supposed to be available, but I could never find them. I hope for a spontaneous inspiration when I test the vibrator. The device is also waterproof, so it can be used in bed, in the shower, alone or as a couple.

Let's put our hands on it - literally

By the way, according to the instructions, I am a storybook target for the Womanizer OG: "Experienced Explorer". What an honourable title. The vibrator is thus aimed at women who want to further develop their experience with sex toys and experience orgasms of a different kind. Chin-chin!

Although I count myself among these women, I don't want to get cocky and test the vibrator on my hand first. Only then do I start my "Journey to Ecstasy" south. I activate the vibrator and immediately notice that the Smart Silence technology works perfectly. In general, I have to emphasise that the vibrator is very quiet and does not smack or buzz unpleasantly like other sex toys.

The vibration and pressure waves are very low.

Vibration and pressure waves are very easy to control in terms of intensity, and the differences between the twelve pressure wave levels are hardly noticeable - at least on the hand. The afterglow also has no effect when dry, but maybe it's just time to stop testing the thing on the back of my hand and take it for a spin!

In search of the G-spot: my conclusion

Expectations were high for the latest Womanizer. The sequel is rarely as good as the original and with new ventures manufacturers always risk a flop. The Womanizer OG is far from being such a flop, to say the least.

In its function as a resting vibrator, the sex toy is, in the tradition of its predecessors, an excellent companion for sex alone or as a couple. It feels good in the hand and playing with it feels very natural and organic - which is a very good conclusion for a device that is neither natural nor organic. It is very comfortable to put on and easy to change the intensity. Until the end, however, I could not distinguish between twelve pressure wave levels in all my efforts, but a maximum of five. But maybe "experienced explorers" are just not as sensitive? I also waited in vain for the spontaneous inspiration of how to reach the different pressure wave patterns, which didn't bother me any more. The three intensity levels served their purpose extremely successfully.

The G-spot thing remains exciting. In the product description, the part of the clitoris that I refer to here as the G-spot is described as less sensitive than the exposed clitoris. That makes sense, but it also means that G-spot orgasms take time and patience. I, too, spent a lot of time with the Womanizer OG until things finally clicked between us. Journey to Ecstasy? Yes, but it takes time. The outer clitoris is the highway to orgasm while the G-spot is the highway: slower, full of detours, but sometimes worlds more beautiful.
