ThinkVision M14t: If the laptop display is too small, Lenovo's mobile monitor helps out

Lenovo presented the second generation of its ThinkVision M14t mobile monitor at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It extends the notebook desktop on the go via USB-C.
I've got used to working with two monitors. But I only packed my notebook for the trip to MWC. That works, but somehow one display is unusually small. So it seems tempting to be able to quickly set up a second monitor.
More desktop interface for mobile working
The ThinkVision M14t Gen 2 has a 14-inch IPS touchscreen with a refresh rate of 60 hertz. With an aspect ratio of 16:10, it has a resolution of 2240 × 1400 pixels. The higher resolution is the biggest change to the first generation. Lenovo specifies the brightness at 300 nits and speaks of a contrast ratio of 1500:1. The monitor covers the sRGB colour space 100 per cent.

With its integrated stand, the ThinkVision M14t can be set up in landscape or portrait format. When folded, it measures 31.48 × 23.4 × 9.64 centimetres and therefore fits easily into the laptop compartment of a backpack - provided the notebook still has room to spare. I would pack the additional almost 700 grams.
The two USB-C ports are also located in the stand, which you can use to connect the image source and charge another device with up to 65 watts. However, the monitor only transmits the power. It has no power supply and no battery. Lenovo has not revealed how much power the display needs from the laptop battery. Overall, however, the setup is more suitable for workstations with a power socket.

The Lenovo ThinkVision M14t will be available from May 2024. The recommended retail price in Germany is 399 euros. The scope of delivery includes a stylus and a carrying case.

As a primary school pupil, I used to sit in a friend's living room with many of my classmates to play the Super NES. Now I get my hands on the latest technology and test it for you. In recent years at Curved, Computer Bild and Netzwelt, now at Digitec and Galaxus.
