What you’ll find in Austrian shopping carts

In October 2022, Galaxus is celebrating its one year anniversary in Austria. With this in mind, it’s high time to get a sense of the customers who live there. Is this Swiss online department store going down well with our neighbours across the border? Which products are particularly popular in which states? And how important is sustainability for the country’s online shoppers? We’ve got all the answers.

Marketplace or not, the product range on Galaxus.at has been growing continuously over the last twelve months. And customers in Austria have some clear favourites:

Smartphones and their protective cases are especially popular with shoppers in Austria. However, office products such as monitors and ink cartridges often find their way into virtual shopping carts, too. And when they’re not working or on the phone, our Austria-based customers enjoy playing with Lego.

In a nutshell, our customers in Austria value free returns, are very relaxed when it comes to delivery times and choose to offset the carbon footprint made by their order in 10 per cent of cases.

To date, three out of four customers in Austria have been male. That’s down to the fact that our product range there isn’t as wide as it is in Switzerland. Gadgets make up a significant part of that – and they tend to be purchased by men more often. However, as our range expands, our customer base is becoming increasingly diverse, including in regard to gender.

Are you already part of the Galaxus Community? Or will you be staying true to Team Amazon? Or is online shopping not your cup of tea at all? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Studies claim that we have a shorter attention span than goldfish. Ouch! My job is to get your attention as often and for as long as possible. How? With content you enjoy. Outside of the office, you’ll find me on the tennis court, curled up with a book, Netflixing or travelling.
