Your desk setups, part 5: hitchhiking through Jérôme’s gaming galaxy

Jérôme’s desk setup beams you directly into space. He’s open when it comes to gaming, playing his way through various simulators as well as tried-and-tested classics from the past to the present.
Professional security and system administrator, casual gamer and amateur photographer. Jérôme is versatile. This is reflected in his favourite games, books and keyboards. In his gaming space, he takes you through a galaxy of RGB, powerful hardware – and a little bit of nature.
Takeoff at home with Hotas and a control panel
Jérôme’s favourite games include Star Citizen, Rainbow Six Siege and Satisfactory. He’s installed one large and two smaller monitors for a complete overview. In front of that, the Corsair K100 OPX Gold is used as a keyboard for gaming and a Logitech G502 X Lightspeed as a mouse. He’s absolutely happy with all that. For his work, however, he likes to switch to the quiet combo of Logitech MX Keys S and Logitech Master MX 3s.
Jérôme wants to be fully immersed in his games and still have control over other apps such as Spotify and Discord. He uses an Elgato Steam Deck to control all of this at the same time.
To the right of the monitor, Jérôme’s installed a Virpil Control Panel 2. This device can be used to control everything in flight simulators, just like in a cockpit. He uses this extension in Star Citizen, for example. He’d like to replace the Logitech Hotas with a model from Virpil for standardisation. For the time being, it serves its purpose.
Nature and personality in the limelight
A harmonious eye-catcher is located directly above the monitors: a printed photograph hangs there, framed by green light. Jérôme took the picture during his vacation in Bali. It’s the Pura Tanah Lot temple.
He describes himself as a vacation amateur photographer and likes to hang up one or two of the results at home. For this Bali pic, he used a Canon 60D and a Tamron telephoto lens. In the distant future, Jérôm’s toying with the idea of buying a Canon R model.
He’s brought various hanging plants into the office for an added flair. Even if they don’t require any special care, they add a natural touch to the room. For even more nature, he’s also purchased a dark wooden table. Of course, a little Lego is also a must, both with plastic plants and in the Lego Space Stories set.
Controller collection for all kinds of games
Last but not least, a handful of colourful controllers pose on a shelf. These include a special edition of Cyberpunk 2077 and a Starfield controller. Jérôme got the collection rolling with the former. It was only in his current apartment that controllers were given a proper place on this new shelf. His Logitech G19s has also found a spot here, with the keyboard snuggled in between.
Not just space: Jérôme’s broad interest in gaming
For Jérôme, outer space is an exciting topic, precisely because it’s barely tangible and leaves room for speculation. In his office, these small traces of space also have other reasons. Space Stories from Lego, a set of four small Lego pics, simply appeal to him visually, for example. He slipped into Star Citizen by chance. The game impresses him with its many possibilities and freedoms – and, of course, with its particularly beautiful graphics.
Otherwise, Jérôme’s been playing all sorts of games since he was a teenager. He regularly unpacks Formula 1, flight or truck simulators. Nevertheless, there’s still time for strategy games such as Anno or Civilization, shooters such as Rainbow Six and CoD or survival games Valheim and Enshrouded. Of course, well-known role-playing game classics such as Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are also included.
His reading interests, on the other hand, take him in a completely different direction. There, he tends to peruse the fantasy sector. Those thick tomes had to be moved to the living room to save space.
But that doesn’t bother him so much. He quite likes his setup as it is at the moment. After all, he’s just replaced his Nvidia RTX 3090 graphics card with a 4090 from Asus. You can really do a lot with it. However, Jérôme would like to focus on specific manufacturers for peripherals in the future, eliminating the need for countless programs on the PC to control them.

In my world, Super Mario chases Stormtroopers with a unicorn and Harley Quinn mixes cocktails for Eddie and Peter at the beach bar. Wherever I can live out my creativity, my fingers tingle. Or maybe it's because nothing flows through my veins but chocolate, glitter and coffee.
