Controlled by the specially designed Apple W1 chip, AirPods use optical sensors and an accelerometer to tell if they're in your ear. The W1 chip automatically routes audio and activates the microphone - whether you use both or just one. And if you're on the phone or talking to Siri, another accelerometer with wave-banding microphones filters out background noise and highlights your voice. Because the extremely energy-efficient W1 chip controls battery power so well, AirPods offer a unique playback time of up to 5 hours per charge. Apples Airpods überzeugen im Test mit hohem Tragekomfort, gutem bis sehr gutem Sound und einer erstklassigen Akkulaufzeit. Der Klang ist warm, voll und angenehm, lässt aber Spritzigkeit vermissen. Zu abgespeckt fällt jedoch das Bedienkonzept aus, am Kopfhörer lässt sich beispielsweise nicht einmal die Lautstärke ändern.
