The Lenovo Smart Paper has everything you need for reading, writing and doodling. However, since it's priced too close to traditional tablets that can do much more, it's hard to recommend the device. If you're looking to upgrade the functionality of an older e-ink device, the Smart Paper is great, but if you have artistic ambitions beyond doodling, you can get better devices for the same price.
eBook readers are simply practical. Many of the electronic reading devices are lighter than a book and are ideal for reading on the balcony, in bed or when travelling.
