Reviews & Ratings

- Gaming firmware DumaOS
- low-cost operation
- Good USB speed
- Default settings not optimally chosen
- Mediocre WLAN speed
- no 2.5-GBit LAN
The Netgear Nighthawk XR1000 offers high fun and tuning potential for gamers. The functions of its special operating system DumaOS go far beyond what other gaming routers offer. In terms of speed and hardware equipment, however, the Wi-Fi 6 router is less convincing: they are meagre compared to its price.
The XR1000 also cuts a good figure in the test lab. Its maximum data rates in the 2.4 GHz band were slightly and in the 5 GHz band somewhat more clearly behind those of this year's primus from Asus. The power consumption of 7.4 watts is quite low.

- DumaOS 3.0
- Network congestion control
- Supports Wi-Fi 6
- Integration with the smartphone app
- Single USB port
- Only four 10/100/1000 wired ports

Given the price and performance, the price of 395 euros is not cheap - but if you are looking for a router that is consistently trimmed for gaming performance, you should be willing to pay it.
