The dust- and splash-proof magnesium alloy body, the dust protection system, the fully biaxial, ultra-fast 11-point AF system, the integrated image stabilizer, the tiltable LiveView display, the pre-control of white balance and exposure compensation, the preview of the Shadow Adjustment technology, and the AE/AF Lock function complete the overall package.

Olympus hat mit der E-5 derzeit nur eine Spiegelreflexkamera in seinem Angebot, liefert hier eine aber ein sehr gutes Gesamtpaket. Die Bildqualität kann überzeugen, wobei auch die Ausstattung mit Ausklappblitz und komplett abgedichteten Gehäuse gefällt.
Dicker Adel. Spiegelreflexkamera für höchste Ansprüche. Dick, robust und teuer. Extrem schnell. Gehäuse und Objektiv sind wetterfest (gegen Spritzwasser geschützt). Schwachpunkt ist der Monitor: Kontrast bei Sonne und Dämmerlicht nur mäßig. Ansonsten lässt die Kamera keine Wünsche offen.

... Schon ab ISO 1.600 wird ein Grießeln deutlich und die Olympus sackt auf das Niveau einer sehr guten Einsteiger-SLR ab. Bei höheren Empfindlichkeiten fällt sie sogar noch weiter zurück und rauscht nur etwas weniger als eine High-End-Kompaktkamera.

Die Olympus E-5 liefert trotz kleiner Schwächen im Detail insgesamt eine voll und ganz überzeugende Testvorstellung. Wer mit dem speziell für die digitale Fotografie konzipierten FourThirds-System arbeiten will, findet derzeit keine bessere Kamera als die Olympus E-5.
