A mail client is a programme used to read, write and send e-mails.To view an e-mail, an e-mail programme can either download the e-mails from a mail server, access an already existing local mailbox, or process the e-mails directly on the server. To send an e-mail, the user's e-mail programme usually sends it via SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) to an SMTP relay server, which then sends the e-mail on to be received. Using WAP, you can easily surf the Internet with your mobile phone and search for an address on the Internet, make a reservation at your favourite restaurant or find the nearest petrol station.The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) refers to a collection of technologies and protocols whose objective is to make Internet content available for mobile radio as well as for the small displays of mobile phones. Thanks to Bluetooth technology, the mobile phone device wirelessly exchanges data with other compatible devices over short distances, i.e. up to a distance of about 10 metres. Bluetooth is an industry standard that performs data transmission free of charge and with low power consumption. Mobile devices can support the video formats MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and WMV. MPEG4, H.263 and H.264 are standards that describe, among other things, procedures for video and audio data compression. H.264 is therefore a further development and typically achieves a higher coding efficiency than H.263 and is also designed for high-resolution image data, e.g. HDTV. WMV (Windows Media Video) is a proprietary video codec from Mircosoft and is part of the Windows Media platform. WMV is similar in structure to MPEG4.
