Reviews & Ratings
- WLAN fast
- Smart home base can be extended by many standards
- Low range of functions
- Telephony functions only via the customer centre
Compared to AVM's FritzBoxes, the Speedport is weaker in terms of functionality. On the other hand, the router gave full throttle in the WLAN test. Special feature: With a separately available mobile network receiver (from 294 euros), it can bundle the speed of mobile networks (including 5G) and DSL to increase the Internet speed.
The top FritzBox 7590, 6690 and 5590 routers are suitable for large flats and houses thanks to their powerful WLAN. With their wide range of functions, they can cope with almost all requirements. The affordable 7530 AX, 6660 and 5530 offer sufficient performance for smaller households...
The 7590 AX is the most powerful router with the best features and the fastest WLAN. The 7530 is a very good compromise between price and performance. The places in between are very well filled by the in-house Telekom router and the Asus. The latter clearly stands out from the rest in terms of security thanks to its DDoS attack protection.
A good choice for Telekom customers. The current router from Telekom is almost equal to the FritzBoxes, and even a bit better in data transmission. Wan socket for receiving the internet signal from a fibre optic modem, can also be used as a Lan socket. Very good security functions, very easy to operate.
The Fritz Box 7590 AX is an all-rounder that is suitable for many households with its fast WLAN, many functions and simple operation. If you don't want to spend so much and have less living space, go for the 7530 AX - which is also very energy-efficient. The current Speedport routers from Telekom offer more WLAN performance but fewer functions.
If you need more network functions than the Smart 4 can offer, such as router cascades or several VPN accesses to the home network, then you currently have to look elsewhere. For "just internet", however, a new connection or router change could hardly be easier for Telekom customers: connect, switch on, wait...
