I have a 49 inch LG monitor with 5k resolution and I want to attach 2 laptops with USB-C output (data and video) to it. So I need a device where I can attach 2 USB-C Thunderbolt devices and then transfer a 5k image from there. Is that possible with this device or what are the alternatives?

No, as far as I know, you can't. What you are looking for sounds like a KVM switch. However, I don't know if these are available for thunderbolt, or only for HDMI/display port and a few usb ports.
