I cannot judge whether the wearing comfort is worse than that of the predecessor. I found the following entry in a review on the manufacturer's website:
"Fit:
The shells lie on the ears & do not wrap around them. They are rather small & uncomfortable for my boyfriend's larger ears. I can wear them for about 5 hours, then my ears hurt a bit. They recover quickly though. So not for all day at a stretch."
