Das 42 plus hat wie die Navigon-Oberklasse die neue Oberfläche „Flow“ - mit allen Vorteilen, aber auch Fehlern. Insgesamt ist es aber ebenfalls leichter zu bedienen als ältere Navigon-Geräte.
Fahrrad- und Fußgängerbetrieb mit jeweils "guten" Ergebnissen, "sehr gute" Ziel- und Berechnungsauswahl sowie Reaktion auf Routenänderung und Informationen am Bildschirm. Bildschirmqualität und Touchscreen "durchschnittlich". Akkuleistung gut, Sicherheitshinweise fehlen. Kein Bluetooth, keine Spracheingabe.
