Attention Stüssy fans: Shawn Stussy returns from retirement with new-old streetwear

On 29 June, Shawn Stussy published a post on his Instagram account that read, among other things: "Retirement is nice, but it's time to embark on a long ride into the future." Since then, the streetwear-interested internet has been upside down. Is the 69-year-old returning to his roots aka the iconic Stüssy brand? Does he have new projects in the Halfpipe pipeline? Or is he perhaps just misleading us?

Breathe a sigh of relief, there's finally more information! More specifically, a huge sign that has recently been displayed in Melbourne, Australia, in front of the headquarters of skate brand Globe:

Yep, because after Stussy sold his shares in the brand he co-founded, Stüssy to his business partner back in 1996, he created the S/Double brand in 2008 - after an initial brief retirement. Less sporty but still with an affinity for streetwear, the brand established itself primarily on the Japanese market for men's shoes such as brogues and derbies as well as handmade surfboards, until it became suspiciously quiet around 2016.

What awaits us after the relaunch under the care of the Globe founder brothers Matt, Peter and Stephen Hill is unfortunately still a well-kept secret. The fact is: Globe is at home in the skate universe, producing boards, clothing and, above all, shoes. A return to Stussy's roots is therefore obvious. Just like the fact that the concept of retirement is obviously not right for him. <p
