Notepad gets spell check and autocorrect

Microsoft has given Notepad a spell checker and autocorrect after four decades. As with Edge and Word, errors are immediately highlighted in red. If you want to correct an error, click on it with the right mouse button. In contrast to Word, you first have to switch to a submenu in the context menu that appears in order to view and select correction suggestions.

The new function has been rolled out to all Windows 11 users for a few days now. If you want to deactivate the spell checker for individual file formats or autocorrect, you can do so in the programme options.

This is the second year in a row that Notepad has received new functions. Last year, the programme received an autosave function and the option to restore the last opened apps at startup (activated by default). If you need more functions, I suggest trying alternatives such as Notepad++, VS Code and Sublime Text.
