Wallflowers of the Galaxus product range: this ice scraper has been left out in the cold
On the one hand, you have stars and starlets. On the other, you have wallflowers. And in the Galaxus product range, it’s no different. Some items live out a shadowy existence, unnoticed by the public. Just like this ice scraper and brush.
Fifteen minutes of fame. Andy Warhol coined the expression in the 1960s, thus suggesting that in a future world, everyone would be world famous for a little while. Anyone and everyone? Nope. There are some who never make it into the limelight. Not even for a quarter of an hour.
Even in the Galaxus range, there are products that nobody sees, nobody’s heard of and nobody wants. But that’s going to change now, at least for a few minutes. It’s not like it has to be 15.
The ice scraper that’s been left out in the cold
If you type «ice scraper» into our shop’s search bar, you’ll get 154 products to choose from (at the time of writing). These are generally sorted according to relevance. In other words, you’ll see the most relevant ice scraper first and then it goes steadily downhill, all the way down to number 154. You can find out how products are sorted and displayed here. Simply put, it all comes down to:
- Matching the aim of the search query
- Users’ search and shopping habits
- Availability and estimated delivery time
- Popularity and novelty
- Attractiveness and price
Taking all these criteria into account, the ice scraper and brush from IWH comes in last place. Zero relevancy for these colourful plastic scrapers.

Wait, hang on a minute. That’s not true at all. Last I checked, the IWH scraper «only» ranks in 150th place. The only less relevant items in the ice scraper product category are Petrebels’ Kings & Queens Victoria de Luxe 45 cat cave in ice grey and a dining table. Okay, in the case of the cat cave, the colour designation was probably responsible for it being lumped in with the ice scrapers. What I can’t figure out is how a dining table made its way into the bottom of the ranking. Maybe the algorithm thinks the structure of the metal bars on Kave Home’s Leska are perfectly capable of scraping away some ice.
Be that as it may, I reckon ice scrapers are generally in for a hard time at these latitudes. At least in the lowlands. That’s climate change for you. Air conditioners and sun screens with SPF 12,000 are sure to overtake ice scrapers in the relevancy stakes sooner or later.
