Windows 11: first screenshots have appeared
The next Windows generation will be presented on 24 June. Nevertheless, the first videos, screenshots and wallpapers of Windows 11 are already circulating.
The Start menu is moving to the centre and no longer has tiles. This can be seen on screenshots that were first published on the Chinese platform Baidu. The images are said to be from an internal pre-release version of Windows 11 that was leaked. All the previously rumoured innovations can’t be seen, but some new wallpapers are shown.
Centred start menu
The US blog «The Verge» got their hands on the pre-release and installed it. Tom Warren describes the start menu as very similar to the one previously seen in the version of the operating system known as Windows 10x.
Microsoft is moving the taskbar and the start menu to the centre, where only icons and no tiles appear anymore. If this is too much of a change for you, you can still drag the icons in the taskbar and the Start menu to the left corner.
The colour scheme, some icons and the arrangement of menu items and files are also new. In addition, the window features rounded corners. Furthermore, widgets with quick access to information such as weather, news or stock prices are returning in this still far from final version of the next-generation Windows.
New wallpapers
For a while now, there has been talk of Microsoft working on a completely new Windows Store. This can’t be seen in the pre-release version of Windows 11. Yet, Tom Warren from The Verge has put together an overview of 18 new wallpapers.
