The ROG Crosshair VIII series announces the arrival of the Impact, a compact motherboard with colossal potential. The Crosshair VIII Impact, in Mini-DTX format, is designed for the latest AMD Ryzen third-generation CPUs and offers a variety of features typically found in ATX motherboards, including a more powerful power supply and cooling, two M.2 slots, next-generation Wi-Fi 6, and integrated SupremeFX audio. The unusual Mini-DTX form factor of the Impact was intentionally chosen. Many Mini-ITX cases provide enough space for a dual-slot graphics card. This means that there is usually unused space under the lower PCIe slot – space that can be utilized to install additional components or integrate extra features. The Impact is slightly larger than a Mini-ITX motherboard but still fits in most Mini-ITX cases. The additional space on the board is used by ROG engineers to incorporate more features. The ROG Crosshair VIII Impact places memory, audio, and control functions on vertical daughterboards to create room for more connectivity and integrate technical features that are typically only found on ATX motherboards.
