Reviews & Ratings
Recently, camera manufacturers have criminally neglected entry-level cameras. As a result, hardly any new models have come onto the market that are available from specialist retailers for less than 1000 euros - let alone for less than 500 euros. In the days of DSLRs, the choice in this price range was much greater...
With the EOS R50, Canon is particularly targeting photographers and film-makers who create content for social media. They may be bothered by the lack of a headphone connection. Otherwise, Canon has put together an attractive entry-level package that promises uncomplicated photographic fun...
- High image quality
- High continuous shooting speed
- Autofocus with top motif detection
- No built-in image stabiliser
- somewhat small viewfinder
The EOS R50 scores well in all disciplines and thus wins the test. With its fast autofocus, it shows that system cameras have now overtaken the competition for entry-level SLR models. The EOS R50 is really good and quite affordable. That's why it wins the test. It is light and compact and can be operated with one hand thanks to its distinctive grip. The Canon's autofocus works at a very high speed, and it also detects the subject very accurately - even in videos. They look really good. Good sound comes from an extra microphone, the built-in one sounds a bit reverberant.
