Reviews & Ratings

- Dual port (TB 3 and USB 3.2 Gen2)
- IP68 protection class
- 5 years warranty
- Very high data rates
- Very high price
For PC users who want fast 40 Gbps performance, the Pro-G40 is the best dual-bus drive we've tested. But this flexibility comes at a price. As a USB 3.2 drive on a 10 Gbps port, the Sandisk SSD is good, but not noticeably better than the highest performing drives in this class. For everyday use, the high price is likely to be an obstacle.
Eight external SSDs were at the starting line of our comparison test; eight made it to the finish line - there was no total failure to report. First of all: The fact that the currently fastest USB SSDs according to USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 do not deliver their speed advantage on a Mac, at least at present, is not due to the manufacturers of the SSDs...
They are small, robust and fast: SSD hard drives offer additional storage space for documents, photos and other data. We had 40 external SSD hard drives tested. 27 were awarded the test quality rating of Good. But it's worth taking a look at the details: We discovered significant differences in price and maximum achievable speed...
The Sandisk Professional Pro-G40 SSD scores with unrivalled performance, not least thanks to its Thunderbolt 3 connection. Read and write speeds are unrivalled, as are 4K tests and access times when connected via Thunderbolt, beating all the external SSDs we have tested so far. The speeds when connected via USB-C are also impressive and are roughly on a par with the competition, with the SanDisk drive...

The Thunderbolt SSD SanDisk Pro-G40 shovels almost 3 GByte/s over the line and also gets along with USB ports - but not with all of them.
