In PiMF cables, each pair of wires is shielded with its own metallic foil. PiMF cables are characterized by a good attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio (ACR) and a high near-end crosstalk attenuation (NEXT). Screened Foiled Twisted Pair (S/FTP) refers to cables that have a metallic shield around each pair of wires (FTP) and additionally a metallic overall shield (S). Shielded cables exhibit minimal impedance or reactance deviations compared to unshielded ones. The transmission parameters remain relatively constant even at high frequencies and are better than those of UTP cables.
