The valve allows water to enter the filter only when it is hot enough; otherwise, it flows back into the water tank. This guarantees that even when preparing small cups, the coffee grounds are only in contact with optimally heated water from the start. All the valuable aromatic substances of the coffee are fully released – for complete coffee enjoyment and optimal drinking temperature from the first to the last cup.

The Melitta Single 5 is practical and user-friendly: The swivel filter allows for easy filling of ground coffee. Reading the water level is simple thanks to the external water level indicator, and the illuminated on/off switch adds extra convenience. No drops are spilled when interrupting the brewing process, thanks to the practical integrated drip stop feature in the filter insert. Long cables can be tucked away in a discreet cable compartment. Cleaning the removable filter insert, glass carafe, and glass carafe lid is easy and can be done in the dishwasher. The exterior of the housing can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth.
