Product details
The new Chorus crankset is a true concentrate of technology and versatility. It is technically advanced because it uses the construction technology with unidirectional arrangement of carbon fibers obtained
directly from the mold without surface coating and, like the Record crankset, uses the bottom bracket axle Ultra-Torque in steel. It is versatile because its new 123 mm bolt circle, although it offers a structure with extreme performance, ensures a greater variety of application segments. The new reduced bolt circle of the Chorus crankset, available with crank arm lengths in sizes: 170, 172.5 and 175 mm, makes it compatible with 52/36, 50/34 chainrings and the latest 48/32 crowns.LIGHTWEIGHT, STIFFNESS, EASY ASSEMBLY AND MAINTENANCE: ULTRA-TORQUE. THIS IS CAMPAGNOLO'S ANSWER TO INTEGRATED KETTEN WHEEL GUARNES.Six years after its introduction, Ultra-Tourque continues to be recognized as the best performing bicycle bottom bracket shaft in terms of strength, weight savings and power transmission.Campagnolo has ensured that the two axle halves of the bottom bracket are inseparable from the respective crank arms. This new development has made it possible to significantly reduce the lateral protrusion from the frame at axle height, thus preventing unwanted contact with the ankle during pedaling.Their assembly is extremely simple, a single oversize bolt is used to firmly connect the two halves of the axle to each other. In terms of torque transmission efficiency, this system certainly bears comparison with an axle made in one piece. In addition, despite the narrow side profile, Campagnolo has managed to place the bearings outside the bottom bracket shell, so that as a result the axle, which has been given a larger diameter, becomes stiffer thanks to the increased support width. Campagnolo was able to achieve these characteristics by using the Ultra-Torque, based on the Hirth spur gearing, an ingenious mechanical system born from long experience in engine building in the field of couplings of rotating axles and engine shafts. This is basically a coupling joint with self-centering and self-aligning spur gearing, placed in the center of the bottom bracket axle where the ends of the axle halves firmly connected to the crank arms touch each other.
